Participatory Observatory of Beach Top Biodiversity
To monitor and understand the biodiversity dynamics of the shore in response to global and local changes to improve conservation of this ecosystem.
Plages Vivantes
Any member of the community can participate in simple protocols, based on observations of the biological groups in the wrack (seaweed; and eventually, birds, invertebrates and plants).
Vigie-Nature École offers French teachers the opportunity to monitor what is known as “common” biodiversity by implementing scientific protocols with their students.
Vigie-Nature École
Nine citizen’s observatories are currently available for preschool to high school-aged students to study various groups of species such as snails, insects, urban flora and birds.
Vigie-Terre is a citizen science project under development at the French National Museum of Natural History that objectives to allow volunteers to report and describe fresh, visible outcrops.
Vigie-Terre
An online reporting protocol has been developed to locate and describe a fresh outcrop and allow geologists scattered throughout the territory to assess the geological interest of the site.
Observe the lichens in town to follow the evolution of air quality
Lichens Go! is a monitoring of lichens growing on trees in cities to better understand the ecology of these organisms and their sensitivity to air pollution.
Lichens GO!
Locate three straight trees.
Observe the lichens on their trunks and determine them with the lichens GO key! (available on the site)
Enter your observation data and participate in the construction of knowledge on these organisms and on air quality!
Cultural Policies, Local Heritage and Collaborative Approaches in Eastern Insulindia
To renew heritage conservation policies in conjunction with local populations:
To identify them, understand their concept of ownership and ensure they are recognized and valued by public authorities.
Popei-Coll
- Collect information on local heritage
- Integrate the data into a geographic information system (GIS)
- Organize data into a hard copy and online encyclopedia
- Organize appropriate mediations and conservation uses for the local areas
Evaluating the quality of rocky foreshores (in western France)
- To understand the links between the diversity and abundance of brown algae cover and the diversity and abundance of gastropods on the foreshore.
- To develop, through collaborative efforts between scientists and members of the community, a shared vision of the quality of rocky foreshores
BioLit Algues brunes & Bigorneaux
BioLit participants survey kelp and periwinkles according to the protocols. The data are entered on the Planète Mer BioLit website. They are processed by scientists at the MNHN. Finally, they are published in the BioLimètre newsletter.
